Scientific basis:
BEAUTY FROM WITHIN WITH LASTING, proven EFFECTIVENESS

ELASTEN® is unique. Unlike many other products, it is not merely supported by general collagen studies. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated in several product-specific studies. These were placebo-controlled blind studies. Some participants received ELASTEN®, others a placebo – a substance without an active ingredient. The participants did not know which product they had been given. This allowed the results to be evaluated independently and objectively. The findings show that the first visible effects on skin and body can appear after just 4 weeks.

ACHIEVE LASTING BEAUTY THROUGH A POSITIVE COLLAGEN BALANCE

The appearance of the skin is influenced by natural aging processes (intrinsic factors) as well as external influences such as UV radiation, nicotine, or environmental toxins (extrinsic factors). A particularly important role is played by the middle layer of the skin, the dermis. It contains especially high amounts of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Collagen forms the framework of the network (matrix) in the deeper skin layers. This framework is crucial for the appearance, firmness, and smoothness of the skin and connective tissue.

In the diagram on the right, taken from the study by Bolke L. et al., 2019, you can see how the effects of ELASTEN® develop over the course of use. The effectiveness increases continuously up to the twelfth week of intake. Even after the end of intake, the effect remains: four weeks after the last doseeffectiveness was still at 95 percent. This demonstrates that ELASTEN® not only works in the medium term but can also deliver long-lasting beauty effects.

Skin needs – AND HOW they change with age

Collagen in focus

All important components of the skin, i.e., collagen, hyaluronan, etc., are produced by connective tissue cells (fibroblasts). Since collagen is the most common structural protein in the human body, many research groups around the world are studying this important component.

Collagen levels decline with age

How our skin ages

In the body, collagen is continuously broken down. This means cells must keep producing new collagen. In younger years, this happens easily. As we age, fibroblast activity slows: less new collagen is produced, while breakdown continues. The result: a negative collagen balance – collagen stores shrink. This causes the skin to lose density, elasticity, and strength. By providing selected collagen peptides and micronutrients like vitamin C, fibroblast activity can be supported and the body’s collagen production specifically stimulated.

As the chart shows, skin collagen levels start to decline steadily from the age of 25. From this age, it’s wise to start taking skin-relevant nutrients that stimulate collagen production, to support collagen synthesis early and slow its decline.

 Hormone-related influences

Along with the normal age-related decline in collagen production, hormonal balance also shifts, especially noticeable during menopause. As estrogen levels drop, collagen production also declines. Studies show that starting at age 25, less new collagen is produced, leading to a steady decrease in the body’s total collagen levels. After menopause, the skin’s collagen content drops even more significantly. That’s why it’s recommended to start early with skin-relevant nutrients that stimulate collagen production, to support collagen synthesis and slow its decline.  The keyword here is “Collagen Banking.”

Not all collagen peptides are the same – it’s all about quality

The quality of collagen peptides largely depends on how they are produced. Depending on the process, peptides can differ in size and carry varying amounts of amino acids. Key amino acids in collagen peptides include glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline. After being taken orally, peptides are further broken down in the stomach. This natural digestive process is key for the body to effectively absorb the peptides. Learn here what makes the collagen peptides in ELASTEN® unique and why they act in the deeper layers of the skin.
